Risk treatment tips – pick an even number

When chosing your risk management score framework always chose an even number. This stops participants and colleagues sitting on the fenceSitting on a fence mean pain

1 2 3 4 5 (odd number)

1.      Very low

2.      Low

3.      Medium

4.      High

5.      Very high

1 2 3 4 (even number)

1.      Very low

2.      Low

3.      High

4.      Very high

If you use an odd number it can be very tempting to pick the option in the middle and not perhaps fully consider the risk.  Using an even number means your risk collaborators have to think more, always a good idea to do the job properly.

Don’t let yourself or your colleagues sit on a risky fence.
